It's been two weeks!?!

I really can't believe that it's been two weeks since little Caelan was born. I can't figure out if the last two weeks have felt like one long day or if they have flown by! And so goes parenthood...I'm so excited to continue to see Caelan grow and become more of himself, but at the same time I don't want him to get any bigger than he already is!

In the last two weeks we've had both Grandma Nickels and Grandma Bodek staying with us. Grandma Nickels took the first week and we learned so much from her. I believe the most important lesson we learned was the special "water bottle hold" for those times when we can't really figure out what is wrong with the little one. Hey- give us a break - we're new parents! Grandma Bodek is enjoying getting to know Caelan. She says she nervous because it's been so long since she's dealt with a newborn, but as I've told her, at least she's done it before!

Today was Matt's first day back at work. I think he ready to go back and not ready at the same time. I was really sad to see him go to work, but knew that it would happen at some point. It's just another indication that two weeks have passed since that scary, happy, exciting day in the hospital. Again...I can't believe it's been two weeks...

Now for the name...

Matt and I decided to keep our name choices to ourselves throughout the entire pregnancy. We had heard the many stories about people expressing their opinions regarding names and we didn't want to be influenced in our decision. We thought this was an excellent plan until we realized that we, in fact, could only rely on ourselves to pick a decent name for our son. After much deliberation between our "final" list of names, we started to spread the word on March 18. (I think if we had waited any longer our parents would have killed us.)

Anyway, for those of you don't know our beautiful little red-haired boy is named Caelan Matthew Bodek. We think it fits him perfectly!

The baby has arrived!

March 17th, 2008, at 1:39 PM, our son (name unknown at the time) was born.

After being a week overdue, the doctor decided it was time for him to be evicted. Since Laura was being induced, she decided to have an epidural a little early. It was a good thing, too. After 9 hours of laboring, the baby didn't like what was happening, so a semi-emergency C-section was done.

Out came a red-haired boy. What?!?! Huh. Ok. He was given shots, bathed, and tagged with his baby lo-jack.

After a few shots, tests, and a bath, he was ready to be shown off. Laura came out of recovery very tired, but very excited to meet her new baby boy.
