"Christmas....where are you?"

That's what Caelan said this morning as he walked downstairs to a "normal" house without any Christmas decorations. I feel sad for Caelan that Christmas is over because he enjoyed it immensely, but to be honest, I'm kind of glad to put the last couple of weeks behind us. I will absolutely miss spending whole days with Caelan and Matt teaching, learning, and playing our days away. With that said, the last couple of weeks have been tumultuous, to say the least.

We have been down to one car for two weeks as my car decided it would be fun to slide down the street on just one inch of snow as the storm started. The mailbox and the door of the car had a little battle, and believe it or not, the mailbox won. Our neighbors helped us push the car into the garage because, again, my car was unable to make it up the driveway on ONE INCH OF SNOW...

Caelan was daddy's little helper as he continually requested "Shovel?"

It wasn't such a big deal that we only had one car because Caelan and I spent the majority of the holidays sick. After noticing that our son seemed to have more than just a cold, we decided to take Caelan to the doctor where it was determined that he had double ear infections, sinus infections, and pink eye.

Since I wasn't getting better either, I decided to go to the doctor to get diagnosed with a sinus infection only to wake up the following morning with pink eye too. Caelan got better much faster than I did, so he was able to enjoy Christmas.

"Hey! What's in my stocking?"

Unfortunately, the day after Christmas, Matt's grandmother passed away in her sleep. The following week was filled with sadness and trips to Pennsylvania to honor her. Needless to say, we spent New Year's Eve at home resting and reflecting on the crazy ups and downs of the end of 2009. Let's hope the beginning of 2010 will be a little calmer...
