Last weekend, Caelan and I went to the farm to pick some vegetables with Grandma and Grandpa Nickels, Laura Haft and Craig Haft. Here's a scrapblog that I made about our little trip.

My mother's confession...
The other day we were hanging out with some friends and they were commenting on how happy and smiley Caelan seemed to be. Our friends have a baby who is very chill, but doesn't smile as much as Caelan does. I told them not to worry because with "Caelan Highs" come "Caelan Lows". He can be extraordinarily happy one moment, very pissy the next and back to happy man a second later. I like to call him passionate. :)
I was telling my mom this story yesterday and she just looked and me and got a knowing smile on her face. She said, "Hmmm...I wonder who that sounds like?" Apparently, I had the exact same personality as a baby. Mom said that if I had come first, my parents might not have had another baby or at least not for a long while after I was born. She said she knew that Caelan had my personality from early on, but didn't want to tell me because we were having a hard time with the new parenting thing.
Does my mom know me or what? I think if she had told me this a couple of months ago I might have cried or thrown something. Now, however, I am excited that I've passed on some passion to my little guy. Who knew? All this time I'd been blaming it on the red hair and the fact that he was born on St. Patrick's Day!

Three Months Old!!!
On Tuesday, Caelan turned three months old! As a comparison, I'll also post his two month picture since I neglected to do that a month ago.

I can't believe how much he has grown and changed since he was born on March 17th! He is a whopping 13 lbs. 6 ozs. and is 24 inches long. This week alone he has started vocalizing (and loves to listen to himself talk) and rolled over from back to front and front to back. His favorite activities include sucking on his fingers and laughing when mommy or daddy blows raspberries on his belly. He doesn't like to nap, which he did not get from me seeing as I LOVE to sleep.
When I asked Matt what else I should add to this post he said, "It still sucks, but not as much." As the one who is currently home with Caelan, I am really enjoying it most days and LOVE seeing him grow and change. Below are some recent pictures of him and his development.

Happy (belated) Father's Day!!
On Sunday, we visited both grandpa's to give them their Father's Day present. Here's a picture of Caelan delivering a bottle of wine to Grandpa Bodek.
In other news, Uncle Mark finally held Caelan! I know he was nervous, but he did a great job!
Caelan helped his dad celebrate Father's Day by playing poker with his him. Caelan didn't understand that he shouldn't eat the cards...

"Okay...you caught me...I was bluffing!"
At the end of the day, Caelan was a tired boy. Here he is napping in the pack-n-play at Grandma and Grandpa Nickels's house while we ate Father's Day dinner.

Meeting the boys
Last Saturday Caelan got to meet two more of my dearest friends, Jason and Paul, when we helped to celebrate the upcoming wedding between Jason and his bride Lindsay. He had a great time meeting the boys and, of course, enjoyed hanging out the girls.

Caelan spent a lot of time bonding with Svetlana as she was "interviewing" for a babysitting position with us. :)

Paul and Caelan were bonding over Irish beer. No Paul, Caelan is too young to start drinking...

First night out!!!
This is obviously a week late, but is exciting enough that I wanted to post about it. Matt and I went out without Caelan last Friday! My mom watched Caelan for us while we went to dinner where I had a Sangria (the first alcohol I've had in a year). After dinner we drove into D.C. to help my friend Sara celebrate her birthday. It was weird to have a date with my husband after three months of constant mom and dad duty. Did I say weird? I meant AWESOME!

Another busy weekend!
The Bodeks had another crazy weekend! On Friday, Caelan and I spent the day at the Hafts' preparing for Lindsey's bridal shower. This is also the house he'll be spending a lot of time at while we are working! (Maggie will be watching Caelan.) Grandpa came over also, since it was Grandpa Friday, and hung out with us while we decorated and cooked.

On Saturday, Caelan was one of the only boys at an all ladies bridal shower. He enjoyed his time flirting with all the ladies and learning to smile at the camera. He did really well being passed around from person to person! I am proud of my little man...he's growing up! :)
Today we went to Reston Town Center to watch Matt, Marco, Buddy, Debbie, and others ride in the Tour de Cure Diabetes Ride. (Mike and Michelle did the 100 mile ride and left too early in the morning for us to go and see them off.) It was REALLY hot and Caelan decided that he doesn't like hot weather. After start of the ride, Grandma, Grandpa, Caelan and I left to go back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to cool down. It's only 1:45 and our day's not over yet!

Grandma Tuesdays
Grandma Tuesdays/Wednesdays started in an effort to allow Matt to get out of the house and go to the gym, while helping me learn to deal with a newborn. Grandma Nickels would come over and hang out with me, help me cook dinner, clean, etc. Last night was Grandma Tuesday and boy did Grandma get her money's worth! While Grandma was feeding Caelan, he decided to projectile vomit all over her, the sofa, and the floor. Did this phase him at all? Nope! As I hurried over the help keep the mess to a minimum, he took one look at me and got a wide-eyed grin on this face. Oh my little man...
Sometimes, depending on the time, Grandma will help put Caelan to bed. Here's a picture of Grandma reading Caelan his bedtime story.
We love Grandma Tuesdays/Wednesdays!
Partying it up!

Caelan went to his first birthday party on Sunday! McKenna Franklin celebrated her 3rd birthday with a backyard barbecue complete with obstacle course and medal ceremony. Caelan was a little too young to participate in the activities, but enjoyed the festivities nonetheless. Kevin (daddy Franklin) even caught Caelan partying it up in a birthday hat! (Doesn't Caelan look pleased to be wearing it?)
