Caelan has been taking swim lessons for a couple of months now. He seems to really enjoy them and has learned a lot since he started. He is currently learning to float on his front and back and kick back to the wall from the instructor. Forgive the pictures...they were taken behind glass...

Are the kids too young for a winery?
We celebrated Grandma Nickels's birthday at one of her favorite wineries this past weekend. Complete with picnic and duck feeding, both boys seemed to enjoy themselves. (I say that because Donovan slept through most of it.)
The family bed
So..in child rearing the family bed actually means that you share your bed with your kids. We DO NOT do this. :) I like my husband too much to make him do this. With that said, most mornings both kids end up in bed with us at some point.
"No way dad!"
Notice that Donovan is already sporting Matt's trademark smirk...

Bath Time
Tonight was the first time that the boys bathed together. It was too cute and they both seemed to enjoy it. Well, until it was over anyway...

Pics from the week
Just a couple of pictures from the week...
The boys "talking"
Caelan loves playing with chalk. He even wrote a couple of words on the driveway!
Put that lip away!
Grandma came over on her birthday and Donovan got all snuggly with her. I'd say that's a pretty good birthday present. :)

7 weeks old
Donovan is actually 8 weeks now, but here are some pics from last week at 7 weeks.
Such a cutie-patootie...then again, I am biased...

A lot of learning going on
Caelan and I have had a lot of fun this summer. He and I have been working on reading and writing, plus some arts and crafts.
Isn't he doing a good job practicing his letters?
Here he is sounding out words. I'm such a proud mommy. :)
He's also gotten into painting. On this particular day he painted off and on the entire day.
Handsome boy

Legos!!!
We went to the lego convention a couple weeks ago. It was crazy! I've never seen so many legos. I didn't get a ton of pictures because I was carrying Donovan in the baby bjorn, but here are a couple.
I always think that Caelan looks like his Uncle Matthew when he is concentrating.
This was a lego parade. Some of the "floats" had a Toy Story theme.

Backyard fun
Now that it has FINALLY cooled down just a little bit, we've been able to get out and about a little more. Yesterday I pulled out the little pool and the canopy. Caelan and I spent the majority of the day in the backyard and Donovan joined us when he wasn't napping.

This week with the Fraims
After missing out on our playdate last week due to sickness in the Fraim household, we were totally excited to have Sophia and Melanie come over to play. We even had an art project planned out to do, which then morphed into finger painting once the project was over. Then the question becomes what do you do with two messy kids that have finger painted their own bodies? Throw them in the sprinkler of course! Gotta love summer!

This week with the Franklins
On this installment of "This week with the Franklins", Megan and I desperately needed our kids (minus Donovan) to play outside. As it finally cooled off a tiny bit, thanks to the rain, the kids got a couple hours of playtime outside.

McKenna is trying to explain a "game" to Caelan and Clara. They were doing a really good job listening, but the game never really came to fruition.
